At the end of June 2025, we opened the doors of our law firm for a special evening: the Labor Law Evening. Clients, business partners, and other interested parties were invited to learn about a highly topical issue in labor law in a summery atmosphere with finger food and a wide selection of drinks.

The focus was on the so-called Pay Transparency Directive, which must be transposed into national law by the German legislature by June 7, 2026, and which entails far-reaching obligations for companies. Lawyer Ralph Muthers and Lawyer Anna-Lena Rau expertly guided the guests through the legal changes and their practical implications.

The presentation made it clear why there is already a great need for action and how companies should best prepare themselves, particularly with regard to issues such as job evaluation or the review and documentation of remuneration structures. From 2026, employees will be able to obtain transparent insight into their company's remuneration practices through information rights. This will place a considerable burden of disclosure and proof on employers when salary differences have to be justified in court. At the same time, it became clear that the directive does not aim for absolute equality in salaries, but rather to eliminate gender-specific inequalities. Pay differences may still be permissible if they are based on objective and gender-neutral criteria such as qualifications or professional experience.

The evening impressively demonstrated the new challenges facing companies. Many of our guests took the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas with our experts in a relaxed atmosphere.

We are delighted that TV Mittelrhein accompanied the evening and captured it in a film. The video not only offers an insight into the event, but also into the exciting discussions surrounding the Pay Transparency Directive.
