The coronavirus pandemic has also led to the postponement of numerous court dates in family court proceedings and to the emergence of entirely new issues.
Postponement of court dates had an immediate economic impact, particularly on divorce proceedings, as the marriages were not dissolved and spousal support therefore had to continue to be paid.
The pandemic has also had an impact on the issue of access. Courts and lawyers had to find individual solutions to ensure that families were not left alone for too long. Despite the restrictions, children should not be deprived of contact with the parent with contact rights. Everyone involved was faced with completely new challenges, and family court contact proceedings were among the first to be resumed under strict hygiene regulations.
